A Telephone Call From My Boss

Today was supposed to be my day off.
今日は休みのはずでした。
So I had planned to sleep until noon.
それで、私は昼まで眠るつもりでいました。
However, a telephone call from my boss woke me up this morning.
ところが、今朝、上司からの電話で起こされました。
I was surprised and thought, "I might have made a serious mistake yesterday."
私は驚いて、「昨日、重大なミスをしたかな。」と思いました。
But my guess was wrong.
しかし、私の推測は違っていました。
One of the nurses didn't come to work and no one can contact her, so my boss wanted me to work in her place.
看護師の一人が出勤せず、誰も連絡を取ることができなかったので、上司は彼女の代わりに働いて欲しいと言いました。
That's why I worked an irregular shift today.
それで、私は今日、変則的な勤務をしました。
I need to take a good rest tomorrow.
明日はゆっくり休まないと。
