Being Positive
2009/03/01(Sun)

Today I played tennis in the tennis circle.

I was on form and didn't lose a single game.

One of my tennis mates said to me "Your backhand is better than before".

I felt good about him saying that because I had always thought that my backhand was weak.

I think being positive is important to win games.

Foliage Plants
2009/03/04(Wed)

There're some foliage plants in my house.

280×600pixel(約86.2KB) At times, these plants make me feel refreshed.
However, I often destroy them.

The other day, I noticed that one of my foliage plants had begun to wither.

It's difficult for me to keep tracking of watering the plants on an irregular basis.

If it's good to water them everyday, it'll be easy for me to take care of them because it will become my routine.
I often forget when I did it last, and I only take notice after a long time has passed.

I hope that the plant gets well.

The Role of Parents
2009/03/05(Thu)

I think that it's not easy to fulfill the role of parents.

Of course, we became parents the moment we were blessed with a child.
However, I think that fulfilling the role of parents is not the same as being parents.

Most parents hope that their children will become great people.
I hope so as well.

But I think it is not good to want my child to be able to do something that I can't do.

For example, I want my daughter to be able to speak English well.
But now I can't do it. So I have been making efforts to be able to do it.

It's essential for us to make efforts so that we'll come to be able to do something well.

We have to consider why we couldn't do it.
In many cases, the reason is because the effort was insufficient.

I don't think our children will be able to do what we couldn't do.

Because parents are role models for their children.

Cry For the Moon
2009/03/06(Fri)

Today is my day off. There is nothing that I have to do.
My wife and daughter went out with my wife's friend.

When I was single, I had a lot of private time.
But now, I don't have it very often.

I occasionally think that I want more personal time.
If I were single, I would want to spend more time with someone.

A human being is such a strange creature, isn't it?

We're always crying for the moon.

Pain In My Feet
2009/03/07(Sat)

I worked long shift again today.

During this shift, I have to keep standing for almost 13 hours.
My feet begin to hurt every time I work this shift.

I'm thin, but some of the staff members are fat.

I wonder how they can keep standing even though their bodies are heavier than mine.

If I ask the others about it, they say that their feet begin hurting as well, but they never complain.

Are they very patient? Or, am I too delicate?

I don't know...

My Necessities
2009/03/08(Sun)

480×640pixel(約56.2KB)

I drink Yakult without fail every day.
Yakult is a kind of a lactic acid drink.

I began drinking it because I often had loose bowels.
The frequency of my diarrhea has been decreasing ever since I began drinking it.

Therefore, I look for it and buy it even when I'm traveling.

Yakult is my necessity to have a healthy life.

Motivation
2009/03/09(Mon)

I began studying English with iKnow! on March 3rd.
iKnow! is an internet service that we can study English with by using its unique system.

But the day after I registered, the system update began.
Therefore I couldn’t use the service for a few days.

The system update finished several days ago and I could use the service again.

The name of the service was changed to smart.fm.
So I resumed studying English with smart.fm.

Nevertheless, the system maintenance began from today.
(The program or hardware may be too weak compared with the number of users.)

Anyway, the long unavailability will take away my motivation.

I hope the service will become available again soon.

Disaster Drill
2009/03/10(Tue)

I took part in a disaster drill today.
Over 200 medical staff took part in this drill.
(For example : doctors, nurses, medical clerks, clinical engineers and so on.)

By the way, it was not a drill to practice how to escape safely.
Because I work for a university hospital, we have to treat patients who get hurt by disasters like earthquakes.

I had attended a lecture on the disaster medicine once before.
Therefore, I played the role of group leader of the nurses.

I had thought that it was too hard for me to fulfill the role, but now, I'm satisfied with my job because I did it better than I expected.

Usually, we divide patients into 4 groups when a disaster happens.
The 4 groups are as follows:

Green group :
-> Patients who can walk.
(It doesn't matter whether patients can walk by themselves or not.)

Yellow group :
-> Patients who can't walk but whose vital signs are stable.

Red group :
-> Patients who can't walk and whose vital signs are not stable.

Black group :
-> Patients who are already dead or almost dead.

I was stationed at the green group.
It was fun because it was just training.

However, if a disaster actually happened, we would probably panic.
We have to repeat this drill over and over again.

Powers of Concentration
2009/03/12(Thu)

I played with my daughter in a park today.

There's a park next to my home.
The park is comparatively large for Japan.
There's some play equipment such as swings, a playground slide and seesaws in the park.

My daughter likes playing with this equipment, but her concentration is tremendously poor.
For example, she got tired of playing with the playground slide after sliding down it only once.
In the case of the seesaw, she was satisfied with seesawing a few times.

Therefore, the length of our stay in the park was less than 30 minutes.
I felt lucky because playing with children makes me very tired.

But, on the other hand, I'm worried with about her lack of concentration.
Of course, I think that every child has poor powers of concentration, though.

She will get better powers of concentration in the future. I hope so.

Bad Condition
2009/03/13(Fri)

Recently, I've been getting tired very easily.
Moreover, I've felt sleepy even if I've slept enough.

Maybe I’m in a bad condition at the moment.

Actually, my throat was painful and I went to see a doctor the day before yesterday.
The doctor said that my throat had turned red overall and prescribed some antibiotics and cough medicine for me.

I often catch a cold because of the seasonal changes in climate.
These days, the change in atmospheric temperature is intense.

That's why I'm easily tired, I guess.
