Indolence
2009/06/17(Wed)

I went to an English conversation school today.

Before I go there, I'm always reluctant to go there and I think that I might want to quit.

However, whenever I attend the lessons, I have fun.

I think that I like the lessons and talking in English, but I don't like going there.

To get there, I have to walk for about 10 minutes and take a train for about 5 minutes.

That is not so far, but I often feel it is a hassle.

A Problem To Be Solved
2009/05/16(Sat)

More than three months have passed by since I began to write a diary in English.

I have been writing entries everyday without fail.

I thought I would not be able to keep on writing when I began to write.

Honestly, I don't have much private time, so it is not easy to keep on writing.

However, at the same time, I think it is interesting, especially when I feel that I improve myself in English.

I'm not sure whether I will be able to keep on writing or not, but I will do my best.

If I can do it, my English skills will be improved, at least my writing skills.

By the way, my listening skill is a problem to be solved.

Several days ago, I watched a TV program teaching English.

At that time, I could hardly understand what they said even though I could understand it when I read subtitles written in English.

I felt they spoke too fast, but native English speakers usually speak at that speed.

How can I improve myself in English listening skills?

One of My Hobbies
2009/05/13(Wed)

Recently, I have been recommending lang-8 to my friends who are interested in English.

All of them show interest in this web service, but most of them don't actually begin to write entries.

I guess the reason for that is because they don't have to study English.

I mean we don't use English in our daily lives.

Honestly, I don't need to study English either, and I won't get any benefits even if I improve my English.

I don't know why I want to become fluent in English.

My daughter is so young, so I can't go abroad for a while.

Foreign patients who can't speak Japanese rarely come to the hospital I work for, so I don't usually use English during work.

Studying English is just one of my hobbies.

The Usual
2009/05/06(Wed)

The Golden week ends today.

As usual, people who work for general companies have to work from tomorrow.

However, I restarted working today.

As usual, I worked for 13 hours with only 1.5 hours rest.

It was busy as usual but I wasn't that tired.

I guess the reason for that is because I felt refreshed after playing tennis.

I wonder how long my cheerful spirits will go on, though.

Recharging my Batteries
2009/05/05(Tue)

Today is my day off.
Just as I thought, I can't do anything because of tiredness from the tennis trip.
I'm lucky to be able to have this holiday after the tennis trip.
Some of my tennis teammates have to work today even though they all are older than me.

All I did today was sleeping and eating.
Last night, I went to bed at midnight, and I woke up at noon today.
After that, I ate lunch and fell asleep again on a sofa in the living room.

I am writing this entry in English for now.
After this, I will play with my daughter for a little while then eat dinner, have a bath and go to bed.

What an easy and comfortable life!

A Tennis Trip
2009/05/04(Mon)

480×720pixel(約84.4KB) 720×480pixel(約95.5KB) 480×720pixel(約88.4KB)

I was on a tennis trip yesterday and today with my tennis mates.

The first day, we played tennis from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm with only about an hour lunch break.
We played doubles matches against each other, repeatedly changing teams.
And then, we were ranked according to our individual winning percentage.
I won 9 games and lost 7 games, and I was the third place.

After that, we enjoyed barbecue and chatted until late at night.
Chatting with my tennis mates is really amusing because our jobs are different and we don't talk about our work.
We can forget our positions in work and just enjoy trifling talk.

I think that the reason that this tennis circle attracts us is because it relieves us from the stress of work.
Of course, the common feeling that we love tennis is one of the reasons as well.

Anyway, it was one of the most amusing nights for me.

The second day, we played tennis from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm without rest.
We were divided into two teams and each team had three pairs.
I mean we played the team match.

I competed in the first game and managed to win.
However, the other two games were lost by my teammates in spite of our vigorous cheering.
It was very regrettable but we didn't repent because we did our best.

These two days, I enjoyed my holidays, but I am suffering from terrible sunburn and muscle pains now.

Golden Week
2009/05/03(Sun)

At the moment, we are in golden week.
Golden week is a period where there are several public holidays in a row.

Usually, we nurses don't relate to golden week because hospitals with inpatients' wards don't have a day off.
Moreover, because every tourist resort and amusement facility is extremely crowded during golden week, I don't like going out even if I have a day off.

However, this year, I requested three days off so I can go on a tennis trip with my friends.
Today and tomorrow, we are planning to play tennis to our hearts' content.

My only concern is that the road to the tennis court may be very congested.
I hate traffic jams.

Marriage and Divorce
2009/05/02(Sat)

Today, I watched a TV program about the reason for human divorce.
According to the program, a particular genetic factor is related to the probability of divorce.

Of course, I admit that it's a fact because it's the result that many scientists have been studying.
However, I think it's natural that human beings divorce because a marriage is originally the rule human beings made.

I think no one loves one person throughout their lives.
Before marrying someone, people have generally loved several others.

The reason why a marriage law is needed is because right from the start, human beings can't love just one person.

Of course, I never want to divorce my wife.
To decide to marry is to decide to not love anyone else.
I mean marriage needs efforts.

Sometimes we need to change our lifestyles.
Sometimes we need to change our way of thinking.

Since I'm not exactly the same with others, we need to make efforts to keep our marriages.
If we make no effort to keep our marriages or we don't know how to cope living with others, a divorce is inevitable.

I believe the reason for that is because we have deep respect for each other.

My Answer
2009/05/01(Fri)

I went to eat dinner with my friends last night.
The members were me and three women.
I mean I was the only male.

I don't think it's common among people who are not nurses.
However, it's common for me.

I think it's not just the case with Japan, nurses tend to be females.
So we male nurses have to adjust ourselves in such situation.

When I entered university to study nursing, it was hard for me to make friends because I was not good at conversation with females.
And then, I managed to adjust myself so I could survive there.

At the beginning, five male students entered the department of nursing, but two male students left.
I think it means surviving in that situation was not easy.

Therefore, we survivors know how to live in the situation surrounded by people of the opposite sex.
Moreover, I don't even feel that I and other people are other sexes.

Whether I and other people are the same sex or not does not matter when we work, talk or play together.
What's important is to stop feeling that we are of different genders.

That is my answer.

Anatomy of Heart
2009/04/30(Thu)

I don't have any particular topic today but I will write for training.
I'll try to explain about the human body because I'm a nurse and have a great interest in the medical science and human beings.

Human beings have a heart in the middle of their breast.
There're four chambers in the heart.
The upper two chambers are called atriums, and the lower two chambers are called ventricles.

The right atrium and the right ventricle are linked by a valve called the tricuspid valve.
The left atrium and the left ventricle are linked by a valve called the mitral valve.
Each atrium and each ventricle are generally not linked directly.

The right atrium directly recieves blood from body circulation and pumps it into the right ventricle via the tricuspid valve.
The right ventricle pumps it into the pulmonary artery via the pulmonary valve, and blood is oxygenated in the lungs.

The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary vein and pumps it into the left ventricle via the mitral valve.
The left ventricle pumps it into the aorta, which is the main artery in the human body, via the aortic valve.

The aorta delivers oxygenated blood all over the body.
Oxygen in the blood is used by various organs and then the blood returns to the right atrium again.

If the heart stops moving, the human being will die, because organs can't receive oxygen to use.
It means heart is the most important organ in human body.
